In Arizona spring happens in a blink of the eye, and then its summer. As we continue with spring cleaning ideas one often forgotten item is the cubicle walls in your office.
IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK Just like regular walls cubicle walls should be cleaned on a regular basis. If they are fabric covered; dirt, dust mites, and whatever else can stick to them and make them unsanitary and unsightly. A regular vacuuming with a green HEPA filtration vacuum can reduce dust that can trigger allergy and asthma symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose, and headaches. It helps as a cleaning solution for your office, even if you’re on a budget. It also helps remove those allergens while helping improve indoor air quality. Dirty hands can leave behind marks as well as stains from coffee, soda, or food that didn’t quite make it to the trash can. This can also cause a weird smell. Deep cleaning on a regular basis can remove spots, freshen the fabric, and keep your office looking great. Fabric covered cubicles are kind of like the long forgotten heavy duty draperies that people once used. They have mostly been replaced with plastic or wooden blinds for a much nicer and neater look. Cubicle wall cleaning is something that you could incorporate into your yearly payment plan. You can contact us anytime and we would be happy to help you come up with a workable plan! HAVE A HAPPY THURSDAY!

NATIONAL BIG WIND DAY
This day commemorates the recording of the highest natural wind gust on the earth’s surface. In 1934 the Mount Washington Observatory recorded winds at 231 miles per hour. The highest record wind speed in Arizona occurred in August of 1996. Deer Valley Airport measured the wind speed at 115 miles per hour! What do you want to bet it was accompanied by blowing dust? In the over 35 years of being a locally owned business in the Phoenix area – the #1 complaint has got to be dust. Living in the desert with so little rain, dust is always in our atmosphere, our homes and workplaces. MANAGING DUST CONTROL Poor indoor air quality is preventable. Working together as a team, we can implement an indoor air quality maintenance program as part of your regular cleaning. Make sure your doors are sealed, this helps keep the dust and dirt outside. Having your air conditioning filters changed on a monthly basis will limit the amount of dust blowing around your office. A rug inside and/or outside the entry door also eliminates some of it making it into the office area. Have your carpets cleaned on a regular basis. We can help with the carpet cleaning as well as use our vacuums that have a hepa filter system to keep the dust inside the vacuum. Damp mopping the floors will also remove dust. If you would like your desk wiped off instead of feather dusted, it helps if you first remove the paper work (You can place it in your chair so when you come in you can place it back exactly where you want it.) We don’t want to accidently disturb your stuff. We know that all offices are not the same; let us put together a cleaning plan that’s right for you. Come to work every day knowing your office was cleaned by professionals that strive to keep your office – Clean, Green, and Healthy! We don’t use green cleaning only at work; we also incorporate it into our daily living at home. Some things are harder to give up than others!
ADVANTAGES OF USING VINEGAR INSTEAD OF FABRIC SOFTNER I used to use a liquid fabric softener for every load of laundry. The softness and smell of the clothes after they were washed was great, but I often found that we had dry and itchy skin whenever the weather started to warm up. So, I often tried using new allergen free laundry soap and more natural fabric softener to eliminate these problems. Using fabric softeners can lead to a buildup of chemicals and decrease absorbency in towels and clothing. A few years ago I tried using vinegar in place of liquid fabric softener. One of the advantages of vinegar is less chemicals on your clothes and on your body. Vinegar also seems to help set the color in new clothes so they won’t run and fade. (Jeans are another story, it still seems to work but it takes longer) BETTER FOR THE EARTH Natural vinegar is made from plants so it is a renewable resource. Using white vinegar costs less per load than fabric softener so it saves you money. I use vinegar in a lot of different ways around the house, so I buy a double carton and distribute it out into smaller bottles around the house. Another important factor is that it doesn’t leave your clothes smelling like vinegar, they just smell clean without that heavy perfume smell that some softeners leave. I do notice that towels aren’t quite as soft, but they are more absorbent. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT Our washing machine is over ten years old (we use things as long as we can so it won’t end up in a landfill or having to be recycled) and it has a fabric softener dispenser built in. When I used the blue fabric softener it left a gummy mess all over the top of the machine. Since I started using vinegar my machine is sparkling white on top, and my washing machine and parts will last much longer. I use a measuring cup with about half vinegar and half water, but you could experiment if you need to. SAVING $$$$$ I save quite a bit of money by switching to vinegar. It is hypo allergenic and better for anyone with sensitive skin or allergies. I think it works much better even then hypo allergenic fabric softeners. Even though our skin is still a little dry, I know that our clothing is not contributing to the problem. Now, to keep my hands out of water, find a great lotion that works and drink more water! We hope everybody had a great and relaxing weekend. The Diamondbacks won all three of their games with an 11-2 win on Saturday! The Coyotes lost their game to the Minnesota Wild, but it was an inspiring game from the puck drop to seeing some of our favorite former players who were recently traded. We’ll get to the playoffs next year!
On a follow up on our kitchen faucet being repaired last week; we also called them out to fix the bathtub faucet in our daughter’s bathroom. The handle had become hard to turn and was very squeaky. On the plumbers first visit he put us off two weeks. On his second visit, he didn’t have the part with him because the brakes had gone out on his van and they don’t carry universal parts with them in their other vans!? So, Sunday night our youngest daughter got out of the shower and the faucet would not shut off. We shut off all the water in the house, called the plumber’s emergency number and left two messages. No reply back at all. We had to call them this morning, explained the problem to them again. (Obviously they didn’t listen to emergency messages) When they finally did call back, they can schedule us on Wednesday. HIGH EXPECTATIONS For every service you use, you have high expectations. I thought being without a kitchen faucet was tough; being without water is even harder. We have a home warranty service so we don’t have to worry about these types of problems. Part of their selling point was 24/7 service. They were closed last night when we tried to call them. This was a double let down by two separate service businesses. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE They could have quickly fixed this problem, and people would likely do business with them again. A good customer service is getting people back to where they were before they encountered the problem. One would think being without water would be a top priority. What customers want is a simple offer of a great service, a good attitude and in our case, just say” YES”. Most fixes in our business require only a little time. It is much easier to retain a current customer then to get new business. We strive to do both. In the meantime, how many days can you use dry shampoo? Even though we work here, we also live here, and look forward to our weekends where there is usually endless things to do. Whether you enjoy golfing, going to a baseball game, or a little country music, we got you covered.
Florence is a historical western town located about 70 miles from Tucson in Cochise County. (Between Phoenix and Tucson) They are hosting Country Thunder, which is the biggest music festival in Arizona. Dierks Bently plays tonight at 10:00, Thomas Rhett is there Saturday night at 10:00 and Blake Shelton is on at 9:00 on Sunday. There are many concerts that also play during the day. Some people go for one day and many decide to camp out for the weekend. Don’t forget sun block and water. BUY ME SOME PEANUTS AND CRACKERJAX The Diamondbacks are playing for the second weekend of the season they have three games against the Cleveland Indians this weekend starting tonight at 6:40, Saturday at 5:10 and Sunday at 1:10. GO YOTES If you love hockey, Fan appreciation night (and the last game of the season) is Saturday night at 6:00 at Gila River Arena. Happy Friday! Everyone have a great day and an even better weekend. Give us a call if you come in on Monday with a less than sparkling workplace. We’re here to help. Welcome to Friday Eve. What are your plans for the weekend? Did you know that Arizona has more parks and national monuments than any other state? Or that we have more golf courses than Scotland! Being from Arizona sometimes makes it hard to realize how much there is to do in this state. There are many spring festivals going on and you can’t ask for better weather. Our family has tickets to attend the last Coyotes hockey game of the season. (I still think they have their seasons all wrong. What could be better than sitting in an ice arena with jackets on in August?) We love being part of this great local community with so many opportunities to get out and have fun. We just have to get through Thursday!
DOES YOUR CLEANING SERVICE MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS Are they consistent, do you receive a great service for a good price? Are they easy to get in touch with? Do you trust them? Are you comfortable with them in the building when you have to work late? Do they seem to care about your concerns? Do they lock up, set alarms and secure the doors before leaving? If you have answered “no” to any of these questions, maybe you need to rethink your janitorial service and give us a call. Remember you get what you pay for; going for the lowest price isn’t always the best choice. We are bonded and insured for your protection. We are proud to be a local, green cleaning service that has served the valley of the sun for over 35 years. Have a wonderful rest of your day! Why does “three or four days” turn into sometime next week? The kitchen faucet has consisted of a small hose sticking out of the broken faucet held in place by a binder clip. Every time you turn on the water it sprays the countertop, window, floor, and me. I suppose it’s still better than washing dishes in the bathroom!
Just one of life’s little ways of telling me to appreciate that I will soon be back to one of the luxuries that is often overlooked. From a rocket scientist to a plumber to a janitor, the services they provide meet a specific need. EVERYBODY CONTRIBUTES Quite often, janitorial work is seen as menial and unimportant, of little value. No matter what your career is, if you are serving customers well, then it is important and meaningful. When you choose a janitorial service you are partnering with them in taking care of your clients and employees. Their service is needed so you can focus on your service or product. There is a real need for cleaning services in nearly all offices and facilities. A professional cleaning service is trained to match the right cleaning procedure to the right job. Unskilled and untrained cleaning services are often unaware of basic safety procedures and security measures. Serving customers meets a specific need for all companies, whether you are offering a product or a service. Whatever business you are in, people deserve recognition and respect for the product they make or the service they provide. Everybody’s contribution helps our local economy run smoother. Happy Hump Day! We have not posted a blog on the last few Tuesdays. Not for any real reason, just busy. While I was trying to think of something exciting, not much came to mind.
MONDAY: Follows the weekend. This is not the most exciting day, but a fresh new start to the week. TUESDAY: New books are released on Tuesday. For an avid book reader than this is a good day for you. When I think of books they remind me of the Library, and they are neat and clean places. So maybe we can call it Tidy Tuesday, which could be a good time to straighten up your work area? Tuesday is also called Taco Tuesday, but who needs only one taco day? WEDNESDAY: Hump day! Half way to the weekend! THURSDAY: Friday eve, Hello! FRIDAY: Finally! Just a few short hours to the weekend. Pick any one of these days for us to come in and clean, so you don’t have too. Your office should sparkle every day of the week. Have a happy Tuesday! We hope that everybody had a fantastic weekend. (Why do they always end too soon?) Are you ready to take on a new week and a new month? Lots of stuff going on in April, this week is National Bike Week, so watch for more motorcycles on the road. Earth Day and the dreaded tax day are also right around the corner. Easter also falls in April this year. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s just take things a day at a time with a positive attitude. Hopefully, you are entering a clean and fresh work place today and are ready to take on Monday.
SIGNS OF A DIRTY OFFICE Some people spend up to eight hours or more a day stuck in the office. A messy dirty office is often a sign that the business is not taking itself seriously. Have you ever entered a place of business that has over flowing trash cans or ash trays by the front door? Dirty hand prints all over the front door, desks littered with trash or stale food odors throughout the office. That Chinese takeout smelled great on Friday, not so much on Monday! Entering an office in this state of disrepair could mean that the staff is also unhappy and have lost pride in the workplace. The first appearance can make or break a deal if a potential customer notices these things before even talking to someone. It is far better to bring in a professional contractor than relying on staff to keep the place clean. There are too many excuses or reasons for them to not bother doing a good job. Resentment can easily grow. Speaking of tax day, maybe we should mention that hiring a professional janitorial service is a complete write off! We can help you tackle these hectic days by taking the worry of cleaning off of your mind. Contact us today, we are happy to help. |
