april showers bring may flowers

Did we even get any rain in April?  Crazy weather seems to be everywhere this year.
Have you noticed a yellow wave of all the flowers blowing off the blooming desert trees rolling down the roadways?
All the trees, grasses and weeds pollinating are releasing small particles in the air that will fertilize all the plants in the spring.  Too bad we have to suffer for it.  Wind, dust and pollen are behind all those constant sneezes, runny noses and itchy throats.

Sneeze no more
Does a pile of  crumpled tissues get you down? You can still enjoy the bright flowers and singing birds, just do a little more maintenance to keep the bad stuff outside.  The best way to calm those allergy symptoms is to avoid contact with the allergens,  Keep doors and windows shut at home and at the office.  (I know electric bill are high, but so are doctor visits and medication!)  Change your clothing and wash your hair at night to get rid of pollen that has settled on you.  Changing air filters on a regular basis can also help.  Hire a cleaning service or have the one you already have wipe down all flat surfaces with a damp cloth instead of feather dusting during this time of year.  It's also helpful if they use a vacuum with multiple filters.

How to cope with your dog's seasonal allergies
On a side note, I have noticed that our dogs seem to be suffering from allergies more this year.  The sneezing and snuffling (reverse sneeze) sound when you're sleeping is almost as bad as the sound they make before they barf!  I gave both of our dogs a bath and washed their bedding, this helped immensely.  In between baths, I spray their bedding with a quick spritz of vinegar and water every few days and run it quickly through the dryer.  You can also make up a little spray bottle with a dry shampoo mixture out of household products that you have on hand.  (Check Pinterest)  Wipe or brush them down and hopefully you can both sleep better at night.
I am not a vet, I am just offering a few simple solutions that have worked for us to help your furry pets (and you) sleep better at night so you can have a productive day at work.
Have a pleasant Tuesday, and if you find yourself in need of a cleaning service that WILL wipe down the flat surfaces for you,  call us!
