WHAT IS THAT SMELL

WHY DO ONLY THE WORST SMELLS SEEM TO LINGER LONGER

On early mornings when I drive my daughter to ice skating practice we pass a certain area that always smells like burnt toast.  Our windows are rolled up and the a/c is on, so this must be a very strong odor wherever it is coming from.  I wonder if this is a permanent smell or does someone get up everyday and burn their toast?  Maybe it's just time for a new toaster, or they like their toast slightly darker?
Bad smells can be irritating and can cause anxiety and mood swings.  Some people may even get headaches or dizziness from overpowering smells.  Some chemicals with strong odors can cause eye, nose, throat and lung irritation, which can lead to coughing  and wheezing.
BAD ODORS ARE BAD FOR BUSINESS AND YOUR HEALTH
Smelly odors can come from anywhere for multiple reasons - all of  which can drive away customers.  Offices are so closed up(Especially in the Phoenix area) in order to conserve energy that  the fresh air and sunshine cannot do their part to clear the air.  Some live plants absorb toxins and other particulates while supplying a safe, fresh scent.
PERSONAL SPACE
Using a small fan in your space can help blow some of the bothersome odors back to where they came from.  Sprinkling a little baking soda on your chair and carpet can absorb some of the longer lasting smells.  (Be sure to vacuum it up before you sit down)  Hiding a small bowl of vinegar can help absorb odors such as smoke.
GREEN CLEANERS
In your workplace the trash should be emptied daily and bags changed as necessary.  Carpeting should be vacuumed on a regular basis and floors swept and mopped.  
Cleaning products should not have an overpowering smell.  Have you ever been to Mexico where they clean with such a strong pine scented cleaner that you cannot even taste your food?  I have many great memories from there and that is not one of them.
Green cleaning products are biodegradable and do not use smells that can irritate, they should only leave behind a faint scent of clean.  Our company uses green cleaners that are good for you, your employees and your customers.
