WHY DO ONLY THE WORST SMELLS SEEM TO LINGER LONGER

On early mornings when I drive my daughter to ice skating practice we pass a certain area that always smells like burnt toast.  Our windows are rolled up and the a/c is on, so this must be a very strong odor wherever it is coming from.  I wonder if this is a permanent smell or does someone get up everyday and burn their toast?  Maybe it's just time for a new toaster, or they like their toast slightly darker?
Bad smells can be irritating and can cause anxiety and mood swings.  Some people may even get headaches or dizziness from overpowering smells.  Some chemicals with strong odors can cause eye, nose, throat and lung irritation, which can lead to coughing  and wheezing.

,This morning we packed up an ice chest, loaded our dog Calypso into the car for a follow up visit to the veterinarian.   Luckily, she travels well as our local vet is located in Chandler.  It takes us about an hour and two freeway systems to get there.  We have built up a trusting relationship with him and have been using his services for almost 40 years. (That's longer than any people doctor we have ever been to!)  
WHAT LOCAL MEANS 
In this case it means relating to a particular area in the Valley of the Sun, The Phoenix Metropolitan Area, Salt River Valley or Metro Phoenix.  No matter what you call it, these are all the different ways to describe the metropolitan area that surrounds Phoenix.  Sometimes it is drive to get there though!

WHAT IS OLD IS NEW AGAIN.....
We recently received the amazing news that one of the offices we used to clean for would like our company to clean for them again.  We started with them when they opened a new facility and then they decided to have an employee do the in-house cleaning for them.  Unfortunately, their workplace did not receive a proper cleaning on a regular basis and they are left having to replace their flooring and the carpeting because things had gotten so bad.

We were attempting to go out of town for a quick weekend trip to celebrate Mother's Day, but our black lab, Calypso (Who has been known to steal loaves of bread and packages of frozen pork chops off the kitchen counter) decided she didn't want to eat on Thursday.  We chose to stay close to home so we could watch her and not cause her any further stress by us not being home.  She is a much loved member of our family so this wasn't a huge sacrifice.  The vet recommended a special diet of rice and chicken until she was feeling better and I was able to feed her several smaller meals a day.
Sometimes when our plans go awry it's hard to get back on course.  Our home got quite messy in that small amount of time and I just wasn't ready for Monday.   So, I started my work week off feeling behind, and I lost Monday, it very quickly got away from me.

Mother's Day is Sunday.  did you decide how to celebrate yet?  It might require a little more planning, but you could surprise her with something special - while supporting independent businesses.  This keeps the money close to home.  If your planning a drive up North you could choose Verde Canyon railroad and take a leisurely four hour round trip train ride, or you could choose to ride a bike in beautiful Sedona.  If you are looking for a yummy treat you could try the  Mogollen Moose Bakery in Payson.

Queen Creek has it's annual Peach Festival at Schnepf Farms happening on Sunday where everything is peachy.  We have not been out there yet,, but it sounds like they have a lot to do: peach picking, samples to try , rides to ride and over 150 vendors selling unique items.  
The Queen Creek Olive Mill is also a family owned olive farm and mill where you can buy fresh olive oil  in different flavors.  They offer many different events throughout the year, as well as a Mother's Day brunch.
Although we are in Queen Creek several nights a week, we don't really get a chance to see how much they have to offer.  I see a day trip in our very near future!

SERRATIA MARCESCENS
The pink ring around the toilet is is caused by an airborne bacteria known as Serratia Marcescens.  Occasionally, they attach to the mineral deposit build up and be harder to get rid of.  Products containing bleach are helpful but not green, they can also be harmful to the inside toilet parts.  A pumice stone or magic eraser can help, you just need to careful how you use it.
Public restrooms tend to be bigger, dirtier and harder to clean.  Bathrooms are a high touch area with all of the  door, faucet and toilet handles.  Not to mention the sinks, counter tops and floors.  It completely grosses me out to think about setting my purse on the floor, then putting it in my car or taking it home to set on a couch or kitchen counter.  And don't even get me started when people allow their kids to crawl around on the floor!
